The USB adapter isn’t broken, because if I plug it into my Dell laptop it works fine and can connect to either max. I think I’m gonna write a simple walkthrough of all the steps, from beginning to end.
Looks like there might be some magic voodoo or at least specific firmware versions to make the dlink DWL-G work with a Mac. Read the other posts above dwo find more details on this.

There is a very fast electronic switch in the card that connects the antenna to either the transmitter or receiver, depending on what it wants to do, but never both at the same time.

One is an airport graphite and the other is a recent Linksys model. They list USB wireless dongles as being mac compatable, when they are not. Last night, I discovered the fix.

For those with VER: The card worked, to connect to rwl wireless networks but, Kismac still puked at me. I figured it was just kaput after a long life, so I purchased another. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
